Produced by Hanna Barbera Productions, The Flintstones is about a working-class Stone Age man's life with his family and his next-door neighbour and best friend. It is set in the town of Bedrock and represents an allegory to American society of the mid-to-late 20th century; in the Flintstones' fantasy version of the prehistoric past, dinosaurs, sabre-toothed tigers, woolly mammoths, and other long extinct animals co-exist with barefoot cavemen who use technology equivalent to that of the 20th century. Alongside Fred and Wilma Flintstone are Barney and Betty Rubble, as well as other interesting co-stars as Cary Granite, Stony Curtis and Rock Hudstone. It was acquired by the Museum through auction in Great Britain.
